- What should I bring to my first lesson?
Wear comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for driving - thin soled shoes or trainers are best. If you wear glasses, make sure they are suitable for driving.
- How do I book a lesson?
Please call me on 089 225 1097 to discuss your needs and book.
- What is the cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel a lesson, please let me know at least 48 hours in advance or the lesson will be charged at full rate. I understand that plans change and will do my best to reschedule as soon as possible.
- When can I apply for my learner permit?
Before you can apply for your learner permit or take any practical lessons, you must pass a driver theory test. You need to apply for your learner permit within two years of passing your theory test or you will have to repeat it and pay another fee. Remember, you need to have held your first learner permit for at least six months and completed any Essential Driver Training (EDT) or Initial Basic Training (IBT) before you can sit a driving test.
- What is EDT?
Essential Driver Training (or EDT) is a structured training programme for learner drivers, consisting of 12 introductory driving sessions with an approved driving instructor (ADI) or 6 sessions if you are eligible for reduced EDT. See more information about EDT on the RSA website.
- What is reduced EDT?
If you hold a foreign license, you may be eligible for reduced EDT, which means you only have to complete 6 training sessions instead of 12.
- How long will it take me to learn to drive?
In addition to your EDT, you will need more practical driving hours - this will vary from person to person, depending on your age and ability. For example, the average number of hours needed for a 20 years old is 37 - 42 hours in total, while a 30 year old may typically take 50 - 56 hours.
- How much do driving lessons cost?
Lessons cost €50 per hour and lessons are typically 2 hours long. Discounts are offered for block bookings, eg., 12 hours can be booked for €550.
